Ready to test your setup

What's happening

Testing before you depend on it is smart. A small real transaction confirms your card is linked correctly and verification passed end-to-end.

Steps to fix it

  1. 1Find a merchant that accepts Alipay or WeChat Pay — a convenience store (FamilyMart, 7-Eleven), bakery, or coffee chain like Luckin or Starbucks.
  2. 2Make a small purchase (a drink or snack, under ¥10-20) and pay with your chosen app.
  3. 3Scan the merchant's QR code (Alipay: 'Scan', WeChat: '+' → 'Scan'). Don't let them scan you unless it's a personal collection code.
  4. 4If the payment goes through, your setup is complete. Keep a screenshot of the success screen for reference.
  5. 5If it fails, run the 'Payment not working' diagnosis from the start — you're now in Path 2.

Backup options

  • •Always carry ¥200-500 cash as backup for the first few days even after a successful test.
  • •Save a screenshot of your payment QR in case your phone has no signal later.
